Hello all,

    Question -

If a website put your url and description on their site and the user click on your link that the site provided, but it provided a pop up that create a cookie on the user machine!

What is your opinion on this and what step would you take?

Thanks and have a great weekend!

    Hi Nova

    How are you two doing?

If the link to your site is setting an affiliate cookie, report the offender to the network or Indy program giving them the Affiliate ID.

Hows the Mrs? Everything alright with you guys?

The site in question alot of peoples website with (i bet) the title tag and description from Meta. I know this is not a new news, but this is the first time I seen a pop up when I click on particular sites and created a network/merchant cookie (guess who! lol...)

Edited to Add: I will need Ms. BLFH expertise on this one! (Hey Miss B email will be coming your way with the whole doc.) :-)

Nova, the cookie of the popup is it the same merchants cookie as on your site?
If no nothing is wrong. If yes I first would speak with the owner of the website. Perhaps there can be a solution. If not everything what Heyder said.

Nova, I don't know if you were around for the last round of this stuff, but it is suggested that you discuss it in private and "catch the crooks" before you go public with too much info. Mrs. B should be able to help with that!

Good luck, let's get the crooks outta here!!!!

@Loxly - Thank you I will do your suggestion.

My email is acting up right now trying to send the info to Miss B and it is not letting me.
    I am block

    lol...

I also don't want to get upset like last time and over react on this and I don't need my machete (not yet!). lol...

@Carneol - I don't think it matters if its the same merchants or not. IMO it is deceiving (sp?) to the owner sites and the user might think the pop up come from the link that the user click through.

Is redirecting popup can be block from popup blocker?

    Tarring & Feathering:

I found this site about it in Google: Tar and Feather

In short, it seems that it was originally done by American revolutionaries--to British tax collectors! It then spread to target other people seen as being against the Revolution.

The target would be literally covered in tar, and then feathers would be thrown on the tar-covered person. The tar would make the feathers stick... Then the target would be paraded through the town!

The site says they stopped tarring and feathering people soon after the end of the Revolutionary War, but for some reason, that particular phrase has stayed active in American English. Maybe because of the image it brings to mind...

I prefer keelhauling, but drawing and quartering might work too.

quote:
and created a network/merchant cookie (guess who! lol...)

Guess who is right! I don't know if I'd hold my breath on the Network or Merchant doing anything. We'll see however...........

Depends on the popup blocker being used.
