    Google Reveals AdSense Revenue Share
Didn't see a thread on this:

"Today, in the spirit of greater transparency with AdSense publishers, we’re sharing the revenue shares for our two main AdSense products — AdSense for content and AdSense for search........"

They are paying publishers (myself included) more of a percentage then I thought they were be paying us. I think 68% is a far percentage.

Very interesting. I had always assumed that they didn't disclose the revenue split because they wanted to change it from time to time, and perhaps so they could pay different revenue-share percentages to different types of sites, or different sizes of sites. And I had also assumed (cynically) that they might be sharing even less than 50% of revenue.

I agree that 68% (for Content sites) is a fair revenue split; historically, many ad networks and brokers have taken a higher percentage (often 60/40 or 50/50). And as Google implies in the post, many other ad networks don't generate the same revenue (because they can't charge as much as Google, and because many have a very high payment-default rate by advertisers).

Of course, it's possible that some Content sites (and some Search sites) are able to negotiate different rates.

Isn't the minimum bid for a click 10 cents?

    How does 68% of 10 cents translate to 1-cent, 2-cent, 3-cent clicks?

Weren't some advertisers grandfathered in at lower bids? Or has that long expired?

Could be, but minimum bid per click in 2003 was 5 cents if I remember correctly.

Maybe someday Google will disclose their magical mathematical formula that turns 68% of a nickel or a dime into a penny.

Nope: I have keywords that cost me 3 & 4 cents per click. What I found if your page relates to the keyword and has a 9 or 10 (out of 10) quality score then it is possible to ge 3 & 4 cent clicks
