Please Support Our Team in "Relay for Life" (American Cancer Society)
I'm asking for support (charitable donations) from friends, acquaintences, and everyone else, for our "team" in the American Cancer Society "Relay for Life."

"Relay for Life" is the American Cancer Society's primary local community event. Each event lasts 24 hours (from Saturday morning to Sunday morning), and members of each team take turns walking on a track for the entire 24 hours. There are lots of family-friendly activities, as well as ceremonies to remember and celebrate those who've suffered from cancer, and to "fight back" against cancer.

This is our third year as participants. Unfortunately, in the past year, two more in our extended family have been diagnosed with cancer.

Here are ways you can support the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life:

    (1) Donate to support our team:

    (2) Come attend our local "Relay for Life" 24-hour event next Saturday and Sunday, June 5-6, 2008 at Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward, California. We'll be at the event for more than the entire 24 hours (10am to 10am), but we welcome anyone who chooses to attend, even if it's just for an hour or two.

    (3) Attend the Relay for Life event in your local community:

We had a great event in June, we were pleased that despite the economy, both our team and the entire Hayward event raised more money than last year.

Now we're gearing up for another event next weekend: the "Relay for Life" event is being held in Newark, California on July 17-18 (from 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday). Since my stepdaughter attends school in Newark (where she lives half-time with her dad, and half-time with us), she has organized a team for that event.

My stepdaughter's team at the event is called "Disney Freaks". If you'd like to help support her team and the American Cancer Society, click here. Of course, you can also still donate in the name of our Hayward team (see the links above) -- either way, the money still goes to the ACS.

And of course, I encourage everyone to seek out this event in your own local community (enter your zip code at -- note that the event list is shown "below the fold" on the search-results page). There's a nice official video on YouTube as well as hundreds of unofficial local-event videos.

As always, everyone is welcome at this event, which is family-friendly (no smoking, no alcohol); however, pets are not allowed.
