June 9th, 2010, 11:41 AM #1Using Pretty Links WP plugin -- Should I use cloaked or temporary?
I'm learning to use Pretty Links to cloak affiliate links in WordPress. I like the interface so far but I'm not sure which type link to use.
Temporary will hide the link on my site, but the address bar for the browser shows the actual url when the user is on the target site. Cloaked shows my cloaked link on the target site (which is a bit misleading I think).
I'm leaning towards using the Temporary setting. Will this cause any problems with poaching or anything like that?

I would never, ever use a cloaked link that shows my url in the address bar when the visitor arrives at the merchant's website. Ever.
It's dishonest, it's misleading, and it's unnecessary. You run the very real risk of violating the visitor's trust in both your site and the merchant's site when they see that - and in business, if you don't have trust, the deal's off.
I use Pretty Links to change the outgoing link - it's just a redirect. I never try to trick the visitor, he always knows where the link is going, but it does make things look nicer.Daniel M. Clark

That's exactly what I was thinking. I'm not sure why Pretty Link would even have that option.
