Moved your thread to the Midnight Cafe.

People that don't know any better claim that affiliate marketing is dead about as often as people say the sky is falling.

The more things change the more they stay the same.

    These are Trust bait threads.

It was probably just the author's affiliate business that died.

You can bet it will always be changing. But there is no reason to think it will die.

Internet Is Set to Overtake Newspapers in Ad Revenue

    Internet advertising is looking good:
The Internet is poised to overtake newspapers as the second-largest U.S. advertising medium by revenue behind television, according to PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Global Entertainment and Media Outlook for 2010 to 2014.

And it looks like he's still doing fine. The last 2 paragraphs of that article are the most important -

"Affiliate marketing is now quite a different kettle of fish to how CDNow and Amazon would have envisaged it in the mid-nineties. However, more important than to look at the past with rose-tinted spectacles, is to focus on the future and embrace change. Savvy affiliate marketers have to evolve with the times – or sink.

The internet has always developed at a blazing pace; it is one thing that makes it such a pulsating field to work in. Ten years from now affiliate marketing will have metamorphosised in something else. So, while it may be time to wave goodbye to ye olde affiliate marketing, I’m sure the concept will be as alive and kicking as ever when England hosts the World Cup in 2018.

Then also reading the front page of that site, his agency is doing great, 5 nominations for the 2010 a4uAwards, congrats on that.

LOL Michael, its being like on 2012 we all would vanish but if we could succeeeded to go to Tibet, we would survive

You know once they said "Change is the only Constant"

For me the Case Die is not Plausible at all too. any industry would die if they dont change themselves with changing market needs and demands, i also has seen so many changes in Affilaite Marketing industry from 3 years and Glad that people here are most coperative and helpful like TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More). I heared the same sarcastic comments from my friends that why you've chosen this industry, it will be vanished before 2010 but here we're still ALIVE and ROCKI'N

    Ah those cynical brats

Typically the people who claim affiliate marketing is dead are like the ones who tell me that no one writes checks any more.

There are too many people making too much money for affiliate marketing to be dying. I think 10 years from now people will look back on these times as the golden years of IM. I'm 68 years old and I'm starting to recognize cycles like this.

Affiliate marketing died on 2005, and unless you took the right color pill back then, all you'll see now is, the Google revolution at work...

The future of affiliate marketing is alive and kicking.

The Internet, which was suppose to be the "information highway", has become the "shopping and porn highway". Or the "shopping for porn highway".

In other words, the Internet is moving more and more into towards being nothing more than a shopping mall.

With the growing "censorship" in forums and sites like Wikipedia, the "information highway" now has a "Dead End" sign on it.

Thus, as the use of the Internet as a source of information and communication declines, there will be an increase in the use of it as a source for shopping.

Shoppers determine what has value and they like coupons. Stop manipulating who set the cookie just because you do not like coupon and promotional sites.

C'mon now It's not like wikipedia is the only site out there. Whatever info you think they're censoring, there are sites out there that will have it. There are sites like this out there - http://wikileaks.org/

That some would love to knock offline. Lots of good info out there, just have to go find it.

As more and more people get online there will be more opportunities for affiliate marketers. Yes, I know, a lot of people are online already, but a large proportion still is not. However, they are steadily coming around.
