    The Thrill is Still There
Last night, I signed up to a new merchant and blogged about one of their unique new products on one of my sites that doesn't get a whole lot of traffic. Today, I posted my first sale for them. That NEVER gets old. Plus, it's pretty invigorating. I had gotten into the doldrums for a bit and something like this gets me inspired to do more.

Yeah, I still love those sales from new merchants (new to me) and even better if you get them pretty quickly after putting them up.

I have to agree. I have been working on this one site forever for the past 2 years and started to work on a new site. No sales yet but the thought of getting one keeps me going. It is a natural high. I guess I could pump traffic with PPC but haven't done that yet. Guess I am mainly an organic gal.

    Nice job meadowmfn!

Quick sales on new merchants are kind of rare for me, so every time it happens it's a thrill. LOL.

I'm mainly an organic gal too. I mostly do PPC during the holidays, but occasionally I'll do it during the rest of the year. Thinkin' about starting some campaigns up in a few weeks, depends on how my site revamps go...

I checked my logs this morning and saw search terms for the product already, so I had a feeling I might get a sale today.

    Nice! Always love that.

I don't do much affiliate stuff anymore, but I get the same thrill when I add a new product and get a sale straight away. Every once in a while a product sells within an hour of going live. That is pretty sweet! Just wish it was the norm...

from a startup/merchant's perspective making that first sale, or making a change on a landing page and seeing a sale/improvement provides that same awesome feeling. positive reinforcement.

I feel your joy meadowmufn! And typically, those *new* merchants who convert right away continue to convert which is an additional bonus.

    Congrats!

Yeah, first sale from a new merchant or a new site always feels good, even if it's just coffee money.

This could be the joy thread, so I'll share.

Had this merchant up since 2002, 0 sales. I've just never sent enough traffic, instrument merchant. Just woke up, logged in and see a $300+ commission. Double whammy, nice commission plus the first time I've gotten a sale from this merchant. That means it's, that's right, dancing mango time

Congrats, meadowmufn! I've been fortunate to see this quite a few times. Unfortunately, after the first couple of sales, nada thing.

Since these were $XXX sales, it made me wonder: do some merchants somehow "throw" a couple of nice sales to a new aff so they'll load up their site with their products?

I think some merchants do this. I've had the same experience. It's called "seeding" and while the initial thrill of a sale is sweet, the subsequent lack of conversions kills any joyful feelings toward the merchant.

Thanx mucho, Rexanne! It's great to know that I'm not unjustifiably paranoid about this.
