    Question Coupon Web Service
    For the life of me I cannot figure out what to do with the Linkshare Coupon Web Service. I mean I know how to make a request and I see results in the browser, but how exactly can I use the result which is an xml file?
    I presumed that it was like an RSS feed and I would just have to paste in the URL containing my web services token into my website code but it does not work that way.
    Help!!!!

    Hi affilorama,

    The Coupon Web Service is an xml web service. Most of the publishers that use the Coupon Web Service have an automated back end system that can take the XML file and parse it into their database.

    We actually have two API's that our product team has created to make this web service much easier to use.

    The Coupon Finder:This tool allows you to filter coupons to what your needs are.

    LinkShare CouponSnap: This is a bookmarklet where you can see the coupons and offers that are available as you browse advertiser websites.

    I was going to post a similar comment today. I don't get how it works either. Do you have a Coupon Finder for Dummies instruction anywhere? I've been through the instructions that are posted at linkshare.

    All I got when I used the CouponSnap was "One moment please" on a blank page that said "Done" (loading) on the bottom. oh wait.. no, now it says - "I'm sorry. Your search didn't find any items."

    Ditto. Here is a PHP snippet to get y'all started...

    Code:
    $ls_token = "YOURTOKENGOESHERE";

    $url = "http://feed.linksynergy.com/coupon?token=" . $ls_token . "&network=1";

    $xml = simplexml_load_file($url,'SimpleXMLElement', LIBXML_NOCDATA);

    $count = count($xml);

    for($i=0;$i<$count;$i++){
         $merchant = $xml->link[$i]->advertisername;
         $buy_url = $xml->link[$i]->clickurl;
         $description = $xml->link[$i]->offerdescription;
         $promo_type = $xml->link[$i]->promotiontypes->promotiontype;
         $link_type = $xml->link[$i]['type'];
         $start_date = $xml->link[$i]->offerstartdate;
         $end_date = $xml->link[$i]->offerenddate;
         $coupon_code = $xml->link[$i]->couponcode;
         //Massage data to fit your db setup...
         //Check to see if coupon already exists in db
         //If exists, update.
         //Else, insert.
    }
