Squeeze Page Opt-ins - Improving results
We have a squeeze page with a opt-in for a giveaway. Results aren't too bad, but I think they can be better.

I was wondering if anyone has any ideas or thoughts on how to get the best results possible.

One issue comes to mind is a privacy policy or some text that says we won't spam you or give out your email address (not in those words of course).

Someone told me they did some a/b testing and found that the page without the above info did better. I find that hard to believe, and maybe it was just tested on one of those odd days.

I'd like to hear from the pros out there what are the "best practices" on that, along with any other ideas on how to get the most opt-ins for the clickthroughs.

    Thanks in advance
    Vin

I presume it was the piano site you were talking about?

Would you mind sharing the actual figure? Percentage of opt-in?

I suggest that you try different hooks and headlines. Also, did you request for name? I found that with a single field, my opt-in rate is always better.

Also try video instead of using textual copy. Perhaps make the submit button a big image. I have tested those all with varying results.

Depends on the industry and traffic, you may be able to get 50 percent opt-in rate or a bit higher than that.

    hdlee,
    Yes the piano site.

Actually, we have everything you mentioned. I can't share the percentage but we need to improve it. We have a video, just first name, a colorful large submit button.

    Thanks for the feedback.

MarketingExperiments.com is your friend, I guess. Instead of just suggestion, you would see real experiments and results. There are tons of things that you can do to improve your opt-in rate, if you still feel they can be significantly improved.
