There are some very interesting stats in there, but be sure to look at the small print on some of the services as to the actual numbers that are using a particular service. (like webhosting and live chats).

Depends what you're talking about. It's pretty good to have over 40% of the top merchants on your network. Top merchants being who shoppers spend their money with.

i hope cj continues to be dominant.

but there's a huge threat in the horizon, and if cj ignores that, it will not be number 1 for long.

Name recognition and pricing are of course key to many consumers, but affiliate program integrity, reliability, honesty, responsiveness, etc. are often elements in which smaller merchants excel while larger ones could care less.

Well, not all the time. Smaller merchants can screw you over as well, any merchant can. And there are plenty on that list that have good affiliate programs run by good affiliate managers or OPMs. You have to take it by a case by case basis and not broad stroke it. And I've always made my sites for shoppers, so I always keep them in mind and who they like spending their money with.

a big internet gorilla that claims to do no evil, using its internet muscle to pirate merchants away.

mind you that when these guys go into something, they don't settle for crumbs.

of course, these guys don't always succeed.

but it pays to be vigilant.

    because sometimes, they do.

GAN is like a McNetwork network. Like with most Google services, there is little to no support, and all they care about is squeezing the maximum profit for Google with the minimum possible service. They don't even have a phone number on their site to call. Have to fill in a long form if you wish to be an advertiser on the network and then they don't even bother to reply to you. Long may CJ be dominant

It's also important to remember that a merchant with top ranked sales doesn't necessarily mean higher commission dollars.

I have two merchants at the same month-to-date commission level, yet one has 50% less sales for that same amount.

Internet Retailer certainly has interesting stats, but nothing replaces the individual merchant review, no matter which network it's under.
