Just noticed that one of my sites has been crawled by a spider from
    http://www.almaden.ibm.com/almaden/

So is this the preliminary to an IBM search engine or just some esoteric research project.

I've seen it in my logs and was wondering the same thing.

I've seen it to. A look at their site references this-

    Doesn't explain in great detail.

Money was never a big motivation for me, except as a way to keep score. The real excitement is playing the game.

I hope so, we need more search engines competition.

They have been crawling one site for 2 weeks now.

I hope IBM builds a search engine for the general public.

Google and Yahoo are the only traffic I see above 1 or 2 referrals.

MSN is totally hopeless from what I've seen so far, especially the new experimental search engine that they are working on.
