Suppose you had a shopping mall with all types of products from all types of markets. What 4 or 5 top level categories would you focus on from the front page?
I'm leaning towards Electronics, Apparel, Jewelry, and Outdoor gear. What other markets make a good amount on sales? I'm just brainstorming here so I thought maybe I'd involve ABW. I'm reworking the focus on my mall site and would like to see what you recommend.
I'm excited about this because until now I've been listing the most recently added products from any category on my front page. So if I updated a lot of jewelry I'll have all jewelry, if I update a lot of electronics I have all electronics. This works well to make consistent sales in a particular market, but I want to spread the traffic.
Any ideas, input or past experiences?

i'd stay away from electronic goods.
the reasons are their commish is rather small and their reversal rates tend to be higher.

Would stay away from electronics too, at least on the front page. Right now i'd be looking at Back To School stuff: clothing, shoes, backpacks that kinda thing. Maybe stuff parents would buy for their kids going to college, dorm stuff (laptop for the kids?). Maybe a department store type of merchant, usually people buy more than 1 item there. Halloween is coming up, the local Walmart already had that stuff up a few weeks ago. So that's a possibility. It's still hot outside but right now i would be looking at back to school - fall - halloween.

Now we're talking! This is the way I need to start approaching things. I'm finally to the point where I can control what I show people and focus on what sells well at the time.

Good clue Trust!
I've worked in retail for many years and merchants know when and how to market and put up stuff for the next season.
Go to your local Walgreens, Walmart, Sears, etc. and what you see new on the shelfs is what's going to sell for the next 90 days.
