Smile Changing my Web site to a Blog
I will be changing an older Web site that is out of date over to a blog using Wordpress that will be hosted through my host provider. I have other blogs and I use Blogger but would like to try out Wordpress for this one.

If I use Wordpress and have it hosted will I be able to use affiliate links and make it look more like a Web site than a blog? Any advice on or suggestions would be helpful.

    Thank you!!

I've made many static looking websites with WordPress. It's quite easy once you get the design done. Use pages instead of posts and use a VERY flexible theme that allows you to customize everything. The worst thing you can do is create a nice site that people immediately recognize the theme as being a blog.

If you host WP on your own server you can use affiliate links.

WordPress is so powerful that as a web designer for more than 10 years, I have moved all of my sites and all of my client sites to WordPress over the past 4 years.

I do like WP. Being a "non techie" person it fits me just fine. I do agree with using a very basic theme that you can customize because I've been having a few issues with some themes i've chosen.

I am contemplating changing an old static web site created with M$ FrontPage into one that is run on WordPress. Which WP themes do you suggest, for a static web site? (preferably free themes) TIA!

It comes with a simple one called 2010. Use that one.

I'm also about to transition my current static page (built with DW) and putting it into a WP theme. I'm finding it very frustrating.

Not being internet savvy at all, I've found Word Press to be so easy to use, and really, your blog doesn't have to look like everyone elses with all the theme options. Good luck.

My biggest concern is, with all the work I've done for PR and backlinks, if I convert to a WP format, will I retain all that trust from google and other search engines?
