    Basic Question about Affliate Marketing
    Hi
I am old to website publishing, almost 8 years in this business however I have never really tried Affiliate Marketing, I publish content sites with CPM banners/Adsense

I have a question that how are affiliate marketers able to make more as compared to web publishers using CPM/CPC ad networks ?

like suppose if you are selling Amazon books than the books are not that costly, most like under the $40 mark , so if you sell a $10 book than all you will get is around $0.8 ...which is a very meager amount
take the example of clothes, again most are under $30-40 so again the affiliate commission on a sale will be next to none and you will be able to make a any profit only If you have hundreds of sales ? (And we know that how hard it is to get conversions)

so are you able to succeed in AF if you work with costly products like jewelry or laptop or mobile phones or cars etc ? what about those whose websites are not related to expensive gadgets ?

and after many years I once again want to give it a try to Affiliate Marketing
what do you suggest Amazon? CJ? Shareasale etc ?

Affiliate marketers target prospects for whatever products or lines of products they are pushing.

Just as affiliate marketers may "make more as compared to web publishers using CPM/CPC ad networks", it can go the other way around if your website gets high volume untargetted traffic which is more suited to running CPM/CPC ads.

And books have very low average revenue per item but just showing a more expensive items does not necesarily make more money.

Conversion rates go down a lot for more expensive items.

Plus it seems that lots of affiliates think like that. They see the percentages and the overall cost and decide they need to sell expensive items.

Thus there are 10s of thousands of flat screen TV affiliate sites.

You might do better with cheaper items.

It's not necessarily the price of the items you're selling but well you can sell it. You'll need to play around with your site and find out what converts the best for you. At the end of the day (or month) it's how well you did for your clicks.
