What is your preferred IM service?
Which IM do you prefer to use to communicate with your AM?

    I like MSN Live.

Trillian. I combine Yahoo, AIM and MSN. I leave Skype on separately.

Now I see there was a thread about this exact same topic back in 2007 and everyone suggested Trillian too. Sounds like that's the good to service but it's still a pain that you have to set up a separate account for each service....

    Thanks for your reply!

Yahoo combines MSN, so I use that and Skype. I don't know many AIM only folks so don't use it. I used to have the pro version of Trillian.

I prefer Google talk but have most IM installed for customer to contact us... I like Google talk for its simplicity, ease of use and not as dragging as other IM.

Trillion for me, but I also like Google talk. As was said above, it's nice and simple.

A lot of my contacts use Mumble, which I had never even heard of till recently.

Trillian you can add your Google Talk account so you can basically have them all in one application. Too bad you can't include your Skype log in Trillian, then it would be the complete package.

Trillian here too...I also like it because you can have multiple accounts of one type. So I've got my Google account for both work and personal running through it. I'm surprised Trillian doesn't get more press really.

The reason Trillian can't add skype is because of all the things you can do with skype that require it to be stand alone. For just text chat fine, but for file transfers and video chat and conference calls and podcast recording... I don't think Trillian can do all that. And one of the reasons I stopped using trillian was because I needed native Yahoo messenger features.

If Trillian can allow you to access all the special features of each separate application, then I would go back to it.
