Top 10 Reasons to Attend Affiliate Summit
(No idea if I have 10 - just a good title for a thread)

I saw Shawn last night, and was reminded of so many things...

    1. If you're new to the Industry, you WILL meet the people who can have a dramatic affect for the better on your finances

    2. You WILL finally see the people in person who up until now, have just been an avatar

    3. You WILL meet merchants that are a perfect fit for whatever your niche is - and you never knew they existed

    4. You WILL be offered "Private Offers" - a higher commission rate then a merchant publicly states. Even if you stink at affiliate marketing, you will be given private offers just because you showed ambition by going to Summit

    5. Swag! FREE useless stuff is always good

    6. As you visit booths or attend merchant/network parties... ASK the merchant what works!! They are attending Summit to boost their sales - and they have access to all the info that works - ask them! You'll be their favorite attendee!

    7. Whatever your current business model is, you'll learn about all the others. Since as an affiliate you are - by definition - an entrepreneur, you'll be inspired and motivated to go outside your normal comfort zone and experiment. And your new experimental site could just be your future!

    8. Since all your friends have real jobs, they can't relate or understand what you do for a living. It's a rare opportunity to be surrounded by people who speak the same language as you.

    9. Missy Ward

    10. Osmosis. You'll speak to 1000 different people, and when you get home... you'll remember a little "gem" that each one told you... you'll put all the gems together... and you'll realize you have a business plan!!

    11. Don't be intimidated. There are people who are the head of a network... or people who have a rep as being "important", and you may not say hello because they intimidate you. Nothing could be further from the truth. Everyone is there to help each other.

    12. Friendships. Thru the years, we've all been thru a lot together. What happens to me about a merchant, happens to all of us. We bond together to fight whatever the "enemy of the day" is. You don't realize it while it's happening, but over time that bonding develops into friendships.

    13. Booth Babes

    14. The learning sessions. I can't sit thru the full hour. But I have learned - and still use - important things from every session I've ever attended.

Bottom line: we all start out as noobs, eeking out a living and wondering if we should go back to our real jobs.

What changed me from an "eeker" to a successful online marketer, was the Shawn and Missy Matchmaking Service which they call Affiliate Summit.

We all do the same thing - and we all have unlimited potential. For 3 days, you have 3000 experts at your disposal to take you to the next level. Take advantage of that opportunity. I do!

    All My Best,
    Billy Kay

I can say that I loved ASE. I just went to the one in NYC, this opportunity just kind of fell in my lap.
BEST move I've made in almost 2 years of trying to break into this industry. No fluff, no filler, best of all no BS!
The people I met and talked about and learned about...priceless.
Well let me say this, met Jason Rubacky and he's been helping me out since I got home from the summit. Just meeting him and getting that hook up was worth every dollar I spent to get there.

Only one dissapointment at the show...Beer!
I wanted a beer and went to the bar to find out it was going to cost me 9$ for a beer...sorry, but no.
So I found the best networking facility available...A little place called McGees just a few blocks away. 4$ pints...yes I said FOUR DOLLAR PINTS!

I talked quit a few people to going there, drinking, shooting darts, and just having a few brainstorm sessions.
Good thing I was taking notes or I may have forgotten a few things.

All in all a great time.

Wish I had the funds to go to ASE2011

BK - I love the way you think.
    But I have a question.
If I can't afford to get to ASW on my own,
(and my boss won't send me)
are there ways to get there with a scholarship?
Or are there people with extra passes that can charge the
smaller fee? I didn't learn about the ASW until after the 16th,
and they already raised the price dramatically... I just can't afford that...
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

We have a scholarship program where we'll be giving away up to 50 passes to affiliates.

Details at Affiliate Summit West 2011 Scholarship Program

And another 65 passes in a contest we're running: http://www.affiliatesummit.com/2010/...mit-west-2011/

Be sure to keep an eye on our blog for opportunities like this in the future at Affiliate Summit Marketing Conference

    Shawn,

Thought my browser simply didn't recognize certain fonts... meaning your avatar

We were at an elephant seal watching area somewhere on the coast the other day and someone stuck a bumper sticker with your "avatar" on the guard rail

Vinnie asked me if I knew what the weird symbol was on the bumper sticker. I knowingly said It's Shawn's ABW Avatar!

He held his droid up to it - LOLOL

I KNOW!!!! It's amazing how I get thru the day - LOLOL! I'm sooo out of touch with technology!

    Shaina,

You prob don't have enough posts for a PM, so go to one of the sites in my sig file and contact me, and I'll give you a tip on what NEVER to post in a forum thread

    Best,
    Billy Kay

WOW, that's a lot of networking to be had. My, how AS has grown up in such a short time!!! I am SO looking forward to returning - I haven't been able to attend the last couple.

Billy great post! I agree with Bill's #15 add to the list.

I'll agree about BillyKay and the camera comment. There are pictures out there someplace where he caught me by suprise and both my hands were busy. I'll leave it at that.

I hope to make it back someday. It is a good conference to go to even if you are not into affiliate marketing. If you do any kind of online marketing I'd recommend going. You can learn an amazing amount of information.
