October 1st, 2010, 10:28 AM #1NextGen Gallery Question
I was able to set up the gallery and bring in some pics, but I want to be able to have a slide show run on the page.
Does anyone know how to do that?
Also, can I set a different slideshow to run on different pages. So that I could have a gallery slideshow appear with relevant pictures reguarding each page?

Oops1, I didn't mention this is all being done in WP.

For each page that you want a different slide show create a gallery.
Then once you have done that, upload files to that gallery.
Your gallery would be assigned a number by the plugin, e.g id=30.
Then in your post, specify e.g. [slideshow id=30] in the location where you want it in your post.

So then whatever the number would be I would write that [slideshow id=#]
into the post, right?
I'm not very smart so maybe most people would know the code, but I don't.
Also do I write that in the text view or the HTML view, or does it not matter.
Onkly because when I started to learn about adding pages from my merchants I was trying to add pages to the text view and they would only come out as text so I finally figured out that I had to enter them in the HTML view to get them to work.

Don't worry John we all have to go through the learning curve.
With the next gen gallery, it does not matter whether you add the code [slideshow id=#] in text view or html view. Most plugins, you do have to pay attention to that but not this one.
In general, if you need instructions how to work with a certain plugin, the plugin creator's site will have instructions or the Wordpress main directory page. The easiest way I find is in my plugin control panel in WP I just go to the clickable part where the plugin's name, creator, etc. info is listed. They will usually have a link that will click to their site.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Of course you might have thought that I would have looked there first.
I'll go there and look around. I've been suprised at how much I've learned and actually been able to accomplish in such a short amount of time. Of course I've had the coolest teacher ever.
While I'm on the subject of the gallery thing, do you have experience with how well having a gallery like this does as far as traffic and conversions. I'm sure it must boost up the amount of time people stay as well as your bounce rate.
I want to be able to compile slide shows of my merchants products, embed links in the pics, and show the relevant slide show pertaining to the page keywords.
I know I'm probably not the first to do this, but I just kind of had this idea last night while looking at some other blogs...that I was jealous of
