    Question Is my tax id number my ssn?
    I was going to sign up for pepperjam and it wanted my tax id number. Isn't that my social security number? Thanks.

    Either SSN or EIN*.

    *Employer Identification Number - used for such things if you have established some form of a business identity. NOT just if you have employees (that is irrelevant to obtaining or using a EIN).

    Yes. But if you are registered in your state and with IRS as a business, you should have a Tax ID or EIN

    Unless you live outside of the US then its different. But if you have a business EIN then use that first unless you are a sole proprietorship then use your SSN.

    No - even if a sole proprietor, it is still better to use your EIN. The less people/entitles that have your SSN, the less likely are you to become a victim of identity fraud.
