    Non-Symmetrical Bid adjustments (Duhhh)
    Man, I must have been snoozing yesterday. I decided to use the adwords editor to raise my bids for a few hours, then lower them again. I did it by doing percentage increases followed by percentage decreases. My expectation was that after I was done, I would have the same bid as when I started. Only it doesn't work like that... e.g.

    .10 bid -> raised 50% = .15 bid -> lowered by 50% = .07!!!

    Why exactly did I think it would work??? I don't know... The real logic is more like:

    .10 bid -> raised 50% = .15 bid -> lowered 35% = .10

    It helps if you look at it as fractions:

    .10 bid -> times 3/2 = .15 bid -> times 1/2 (???!) = .07

    This is wrong because 3/2 * 1/2 = 3/4, not 1.

    .10 bid -> times 3/2 = .15 bid -> times 2/3 = .10

    This is the right way to do it because 3/2 * 2/3 = 1.

    Thanks Michael.

    .1 * 1.5 = .15 -> .15 * .67 = .1

    so

    .1 + (.1 * .5) = .15 -> .15 - (.15 * .33) = .1
