    Hi!

I'm promoting antivirus software using one ad network.

    These are my stats:

    June: 638 clicks, 5 sales, EPC $0.11
    July: 648 clicks, 10 sales, EPC $0.21
    August: 547 clicks, 10 sales, EPC $0.25
    Septermber: 212 clicks, 1 sale, EPC $0.06

What do you think? I have the same (and even rising) traffic from Google, Yahoo and MSN and I can't understand what's wrong with my sales... Should I contact ad network about possible tracking issues or maybe I should just wait?

    Здравствуйте Гоги!

Typically most products convert at about 1% (roughly). Your sales seem to be roughly in line with that. As a rule, you should probably wait until you get 1000 clicks before worrying about the statistics too much.

The network will probably tell you to wait, since flukes can happen when there's only been 212 clicks so far. It can take a bit of "bludgeoning" to get a tracking-effected message through even when you have lots of clicks. But if you wait a bit more, you'll at least have stats that are harder for the network to dismiss.

Personally, for now, I would see if anything has obviously changed. Has the merchant changed its site? Is there a big 800 number that wasn't there before? Did the prices go way up? Did they wreck their site design?

Same with your own site--if you made substantial changes to its design or layout, that can change your conversion ratio.

Also see if competing merchants have any deals going. Competing deals can interfere with sales if they're good enough. It's not too common, but sometimes it comes up.

In short, look for the obvious reasons first before assuming it's the tracking. If you can't find anything major that's visibly changed on the merchant's site, your site, or amongst the competing merchant offers--then it's time to start getting seriously suspicious.

Thank you, I'll wait and collect information.
I forgot to say, that this netwotk is quite young and small, so there are some reasons to suppose that glitches are possible.

To be honest, those stats don't say "tracking issue" to me, they look like they'd be within the normal bounds of statistic variance.

Aside: a few months ago I did have a tracking problem at CJ where myself and another affiliate had sent 10,000 targetted visitors and made no conversions. It took CJ about 6 months to figure out there was a problem.

Just stop promoting that product. The stats look ok to me in terms of conversion, but you aren't even making $2 a month.

Move on to something you can make real money at, and stop wasting time doing volunteer work for antivirus corporations.

jimbo2002, I get about 15$ per sale of this antivirus, so 10 sales a month is not bad for me. Moreover, I have other income sources for my antivirus site.

Oh. I thought you meant earnings per 100 click thrus when you posted your EPC. An 11 cent EPC would be only 70 cents (your June stats).

But if you got $15 per sale and made 5 sales that month on 638 click thrus that would be an $11.76 EPC, which is nothing to complain to the networks about.
