Would you spend $130 per year on a domain? New extension, but major, major domain names available?

I won't even buy a .net or .org domain, so I'm probably not the best person to respond to this. I just feel the standard is .com so I don't bother with the rest.

Same here, i can count the number of domains i have on 1 hand and they are all .com. Got an email from one of my registrars saying the new extension became available this morning and just about everything is available: shoes. clothing. strollers. that kinda thing. It's a lot for a year. Don't know, thinking about it.

By the way the new extension is .md

well if you can make your money back, 130 a year is not much. But .com is still the best. I don't think .biz and .tv and such ever took off that well.

well, I can't count all my domains on my finger and toes... not enough toes...

I may give it a go... it there was something I really wanted... and copyright infringement wasn't an issue down the road...

I never did check to see who got show.biz

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

well, whoever got it has it for sale, anyway. they must have really jumped when the extension became available.

    Hi Herb,
When it was announced that .biz names were going to be available, that was the first name I tried to pre-order. I was licking my chops thinking of all the money I was going to make when I sold the name. Sadly enough, I did not get the name as it went to one of those big domain squatters. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

That one has been around for a while - back in the spring of 1999, I was working for Medsite.com, and I was contacted by a company that had the exclusive rights (or so they said) to sell the .md domains.

Back then, they were charging $299 per year and marketing them to medical doctors.

The domain is actually for the Republic of Moldova.

Yes, I'm pretty sure this is the 3rd reincarnation of .md

    Big yawn.

Certainly no worth $130 per year for keyword domains. Vanity domais for people with more money than sense yes, but a 2nd rate .com at $10/year would be a better deal for most people.

    After reading this, I checked:

www.satellite.tv (want your email for a squat quote)
www.hd.tv (wow - nice one! maybe I should shut up...)
    www.dr.md
    www.doctor.md
    www.florida.md
    www.md.md
    www.which-doctor.md (little play on words...)
    www.sue-your.md
    www.pic-a-doc.md

All either available or for sale (squatters).

Come to think of it, all the .md I checked were not found... maybe not yet functioning, just available for sale as notes above said...

Who cares... .com is my choice... and in 6 months, the .md price will come down... as the new-ness grows Moldova it...

The problem with .tv names is that the annual fee goes UP each year.
