Noob in Need advice on merchant application process
    Hello everyone

I am close to completing my comparison search engine web app, and am now in the process of applying to be an affiliate with merchants, but i keep getting declined (I'm assuming it is because my app is not live yet).

The problem is i can't really launch it without any data, and i can't get the data because it's not live. So I am wondering if i need to contact the merchants and explain my predicament (do they even care??), or do i launch some temporary static site so i get approved?

    Any advice is greatly appreciated

Tough one. Especially in CJ, where some merchants auto-decline until you have a SUCCESSFUL history with Commission Junction.

Any chance you can start with another network in the meantime? If you can say, what vertical?

I ususally decline a site if I do not see anything on it. I would just pop the site an email and explain.

Thanks Kevin, that makes sense now, i was wondering why i got declined as soon as i clicked accept terms lol. I also applied to linkshare as well and got accepted by two merchants so thats a start Do you know of any other networks that do datafeeds? I am doing consumer electronics to start ( i think that is what you were asking about?)

Thanks Susan i will email the merchants, maybe you were one of them What Merchant do you represent Susan if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Rhaid7, I actually just signed up last night

Hatescheese, I represent CPO Outlets. We specialize mostly in power tools, and home and garden. We have a pretty liberal acceptance policy, especially since I took Kevin's advice.
