    Hello everyone,

I am helping out web site owner who needs to upgrade his ecommerce platform. Do you guys know any robust and customizable platforms he could take a look at? He would rather go with a platform offering a lot of features (like storing CC info, "other buyers also bought...") rather than having to improve it later on.

    Thanks a lot!

There's plenty out there...one I've always liked working with from an SEO point of view is ShopSite (http://www.shopsite.com). That's been my favourite ecommerce solution for a while, in terms of flexibility and customization. Also www.litecommerce.com or it's big brother www.x-cart.com and http://www.searchfit.us.com/ are worth checking out.

Alternatively, your client could get a bespoke solution developed if none of these meet his or her needs. I'll recommend Ben McCall at www.bmcinternet.com for this kind of thing.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate it.

What about a platform which would offer bestsellers, affiliate program management, order tracking, order history, sales tracking stats, customer discount, etc...

I'd love to hear what some of our affiliate merchants on ABW currently use, it can only be good stuff!

    Thanks again!!

X-cart does all of those things, I believe. Definitely does best sellers, order tracking, discounts and affiliate program.

Count one more vote for oscommerce! It's open source, there is a huge community behind it who will help you straighten things out if you run into a problem and there are a zillion modules that you can install (including an affiliate program module). And it's entirely customizable.

Agreed. OsCommerce is a great shopping cart. It does help, though, if you have at least a basic understanding of PHP to add features, modules etc. (or are willing to learn or pay someone to do it for you).
