What does this mean "Up to three ad units may be displayed on each Web site page, but no ad unit shall contain any advertisement in common with any other ad unit. Serving two or more identical ads on a single page constitutes double-serving, which Google does not support."

Can I put 3 120 x 600 skyscrapers on a page? Or, does it mean to put different sizes of ad sense ads up? Will google automatically show different ads on each ad group?

    TIA,
    Kip

That's confused me too, for quite awhile.

Especially the part about duplicate advertisements, when *Google*, not us, controls that.

I *think* it's probably safe to put up three same-sized skyscrapers. But just to be safe I've been avoiding putting up more than one of any given ad *size* on a page. If I want two skyscraper ads I put up a 120-wide one and a 160-wide one.

When I have two different-sized skyscrapers on the same page the ads are usually different, but I have seen some duplicates. Nothing I can do about that.

I'd also like to hear a definitive answer clarifying what is meant by "identical" ads.

I will tell you what it means i emailed them about this..

    originally

you were not allowed 2 ads like skyscraper and square as they may end up serving the same ads so if square shows www.loans.com you cant have the skyscraper showing www.loans.com

Now when they changed to 3 ads per page.. they mean you can have 3 things skyscraper, square and rectangle.. they are now monitoring themselves repeat ads... they wont show the same ad in all 3.. as i told them there is no way im going to sit their all day and monitor it.. there your ads.. you minitor it.. lol they said dont worry we handle that..

I use three 5-ad ad units on certain long directory pages. I do see repeat ads sometimes, but figure it is just not my problem.

I'm so glad someone asked about this because it confused me as well.
Just to be on the safe side, I only ran one ad per page.

I guess I can change that now Woo hoo!

the nice part of this is that if there are no advertisers available, the space goes blank. actually shrinks so it doesn't upset your background color if you have a different one.
