if you type in http://www.hireateacher.org you will see my friends website.
if you type in https://www.hireateacher.org you see a site that is done half ass and the pictures don't work.

Typically, there's only one secure http (https) site per IP address. You'll find that the other site was registered on the same server (it'll be shared hosting) and that's why it's coming up. It's a bit of a server misconfiguration, that's all, and it happens quite often. The host should be able to fix it.
