I wonder for a long time now, why inside the affiliate control panels from the major networks the merchants do not disclose if they allow BHO's, cookie stuffing, Iframes or other (new) methods to get a sale.
Yes you probably can find the info somewhere in the contract, but really like to see a straight answer next to the merchant profile.
What about a bunch of check-boxes, like:
    -merchant allowes BHO's: Yes/No
    -merchant allows Iframs: Yes/No
-merchant allows Cookie setting without click: Yes/No
-merchant has outsourced marketing task: Yes/No
    >Company name who is handling marketing task: ......
-merchant allows [name it here]: Yes/No

Next to that all different sales practices fully explained of the impact they can have on sales & cookie duration. So that finally everyone knows whats going on.

Than at least the merchants learn the basics of tricks available, and affiliates can decide which merchant to put on the sideline. Or start working on the same level.

At the same time the 3rd party affiliate management companies (the ones working on commision basis) have to disclose this information straight away to their client 'MR. Merchant' and can be held accountable for it.

Or is this somewhere already in place?

    Thanks, Peter

If they lay it out for us it makes it harder for them to change their minds with out telling us.

I think most merchants do not have the time, resources, expertise or desire to 'police' their affiliates, especially the ones that drive sales to them.

True. Some merchants are infested with BHO's and don't even know what a BHO is since the owner is the president, the aff manager, the accountant ...

The merchants with dedicated Aff Mngrs that wish to have quality programs do take the time. We (affiliates) don't wish to waste vast amounts of our time and resources promoting a merchant unless we know there will be no funny business.
