Is there a sales phrase for every year?
I wonder if a bunch of people get together and vote on the sales phrase for the year. 2011 just started and I have at least 4 emails and watched 2 videos with the most annoying phase ever..."low hanging fruit." Really guys? I'm sure there had to be another phrase out there that would help you keep your mind on the subject at hand.

I share your annoyance with such silly labels and phrases.

But I should say this, too: "Low hanging fruit" is a phrase that's been around at least two or three years already.

But I agree it's one of many annoying phrases in the wonderful world of marketing.

I second that, and while I agree with the theory, I think the term "long tail" has been thrown around out of context plenty as well!

I'm sure they have plenty of "synergy", though. If we could just "think outside the box" with our "strategic planning", I'm sure we could "leverage" some old "paradigms".

MMMMMM, paradigms. I love paradigms, preferably with a light touch of creamer, or even a good cheese sauce.

My nominees are those programs who made more money yet cut commissions & give it various spins, for example (my emphasis): Macys Lowers Commission to 3%
Thank you for your participation in the macys.com affiliate program. Due to your hard work, partnership and innovation, the program is realizing year-over-year gains thus far in fiscal 2010. However, this also means that we are experiencing a large increase in expenses at a time when every organization must examine the return on every dollar spent.

To that end, the difficult business decision has been made to adjust the base affiliate program through LinkShare from 4% to 3% commission effective September 8, 2010.
You don't need a fancy phrase to say "we *#$%@!&!! over our affiliates."

I think the most annoying phrase super affiiliates use is to "scale up the campaign".

    Example:

So like I made $100 profit the first month and then over the next three months I just scaled up the campaign to $10,000 profit per month.
