Really slows your machine during the first index, but wow. XP's text search has always been broken, this works wonderfully.

Just so everyone knows Google Desktop search is spyware also NIS detects it as malware and so do a few other spyware programs.

Could this be what Google will use that recently patented ad delivery technology on?

What is spyware about it? It doesn't report back searches etc. They clearly state what is returned, number of searches, time for results etc.

Also if you use zone alarm, it will continue to function normally even when blocked.

Isn't it annoying how Google always gets these things exactly right?

It's good but they left "Include secure pages" checked", bad for consumers or non techs vulnerable.

Hoever it looks good and I'm sure other will provide this service later too, like MSN. I just don't trust any of them searching and "possiby spying"

From what I see so far, it's great! Mine's still indexing, though (started when Chez posted that link). It's got to wade through all my web pages, after all, since I always keep a full copy of all my sites on deck.

It's not slowing down my computer any for the first index, but it says it only indexes while the computer is idle for 30 secs or more. So it'll probably take a few DAYS to get all of those pages.

As for the secure pages security issue, I unchecked that instantly! But the people who never change their defaults will probably miss it...

Also, I want more things made just for single users on a PC. I hate all this multi-user stuff. It is just me, if someone breaks into my house and starts robbing me - what they find on the google search is the least of my worries.

Also great for parents who want to loosely monitor their kids browsing, this way you don't have to restrict sites on someone elses criteria, just search for certain words every so often.

Looks good but I need to buy another hard drive. I don't have the 1 gig of free space in my C drive.
