    Question Google Page rank
Hi, I am a total newbie. I have a basic question about page rank. When I look at a site of a competitor or something else, the page rank that comes up is just a number. Which is better a higher or lower number?
Thanks in advance for your patience.

It is basically a numerical term and it differ from PR1 to PR10 . PR is considered the maximum. The more links from other sites mean the better PR you enjoy in Google SE.

    Welcome to the forums webster2005.

Don't get hung up on page rank. It's only one of a large amount of factors that Google takes into consideration. A site with a page rank of 2 can easily out rank a site with a page rank of 8.
Focus on other factors, like quality content created for your customers.

what kind of page rank do you want to know?
in Google page rank if its higher then its better.
but in case of Alexa ranking the smallest is the best.
PR study is very important so you should study on PR properly before starting work.
    cheers

The higher the number the better.

But you shouldn't worry about the PR for now, you should focus on building your site, getting backlinks, marketing, providing unique content that is the number one thing you need. Over time your Pr will go up.

Well, At first I would like to welcome you in our forum.
Yes PR is very important for any kind of sites. In case of Google PR the higher number is better. but In case of Alexa ranking it is totally different.
Alexa ranks the site by its own ways and the lower number is good and it's an unique number too.I don't know about any other PR. I only studied about these two.

    Page Rank
Google value backlinks from social sites like Facebook more than in the past,
which obviously effect your page rank and consequently your ability of
    money making on line.

    Hi webster2005,

Without doubt higher the page rank will be better. But PR is just a part even a competitor with lower page rank can take a smart position in google. So you first concentrate on quality of your makings.

Page Rank considers the importance of each page of website that casts a vote, as votes from some pages or website are considered to have greater value.

Maximum number of page rank is good for your website and jealousy for your competitor. Generally, user can trust in high page rank site while search engine count that kind of site in quality site which is main benefit.

Page Rank is important, but I think its best to focus on getting traffic to your site rather than improving rank. You'll find that as the daily traffic on your site improves, so will your page rank.

    Have a good day!

Page rank is Always an issue for Internet merketers to rank their website in good position. I am going to share a personal experience, when i had pr1 there are very few pages which were optimized in first or second pages og google. now when i got Pr3 almost my every page is in Google without a hell of SEO.
