I just got one in the mail and I called the company that sent it and they are giving me the run around.

I called my bank also and they said they won't accept it.

But does anyone think I will have any trouble if I tape the bad boy up and deposit it in an ATM?

I would tape up the check and deposit it via the ATM... the reason your bank doesnt want the check is they have to manually process the check.. what will most likely happen is your bank will put a hold on the funds for 10 days to give the check a chance to clear... just remember the recieving bank also has to process the check by hand and get confirmation from the merchant they send you the check...

Well I don't think I will have to do that. I just got an email and they sent a new check out this time via FedEx instead of Express Mail.

Your bank isn't the only problem. I had a torn check that my bank accepted for deposit however the payer's bank wouldn't process it and returned it to my bank who returned it to me. I had to ask for a replacement from the merchant.
