I just loaded a merchants link that included a small banner and a text link. When I checked both I went to this urlseek10.vmn.net It then reloaded and sent me direct to that merchants site. I am told that this is Spyware, is this correct? If so how would I get rid of it?

    You can try Spybot-S&D.

It is adware, software that will redirect on any 404's to your browser (maybe a typo in the merchant's link or your affiliate link to the merchant).

You can also try MalwareBytes for detection and removal.

Not always since it's not technically a virus. Many of these are browser helper objects (BHOs) which are perfectly legit unless they act in a way that you haven't approved. I'd also recommend that you install a copy of HijackThis after you get rid of it.
