This is pretty Mickey Mouse, but it's really starting to piss me off.

I'm running XP Professional. When I open IE the page opens fine. When I open a new window from the IE page everything opens fine except the status bar doesn't show.

Does anyone know how to fix that? I'm tired of having to have to go to View to click on Status Bar every time.

    Close Internet Explorer.

Open a folder in Windows Explorer, (not IE) and look under the 'View' menu. Make sure 'Status Bar' is selected. If not, then select it.

Then under the 'Tools' menu, Select 'Folder Options'. Click the 'View' tab, and then click 'Apply to all folders'. Click OK.

From now on IE's status bar should appear. Of course, make sure 'Status Bar' is selected under the View menu of IE as well. (THANKS Microsoft, for making everything so "user-friendly")

I struggled with this for an entire year before I finally figured this out!

I tried everything I could find, including editing the registry...this fix is the only thing that works on a permanent basis.

Let me know how it works out.

    Thanks kmkimmo,

It works and I didn't have to close IE either.

    Jane,

Evidently I wasn't the only one who was going nuts witht this.

Great Bob - Glad to hear that worked for you!

It used to drive me crazy, constantly having to View > Status Bar to get the bar to show up in IE.

From what I understand, this annoys most everyone who migrates to XP from an earlier version.
