Lightbulb New IAB Ad Unit Guildelines
Did you know that the IAB updated their standards today? I didn't. Found it by accident.

They retired the following standard banners because they are no longer being commonly bought and sold:

    250 x 250
    240 x 400
    336 x 280
    300x100
    720x300
    468 x 60
    234 x 60
    120 x 90
    120 x 240
    125 x 125
    120 x 600

    What is/was your favorite banner?

Really? 468x60 and 125x125 are still being bought and sold like crazy.

    People still do banners?

Pretty shocking to see the classic original size (468x60 banners) removed. Loved this cartoon image about it though:

250x250 still gets used a lot on blogs - that size is built into a lot of themes.

While maybe not using banners any longer, I do have a lot of those "old" (deprecated?) banner locations/sizes in use as AdSense Ad units. As long as Google offers them I won't be redesigning any old pages - regardless what IAB says. I have some 468x60s doing very, very well on one site with G's Ads.
