It was just a matter of time until somebody got busted doing that. It is the dirty little secret of the ebay community. It happens all of the time. It's just that these people finally got too greedy and got caught.

It has always amazed me that people do that and on little things too. Like bid up an item that was $10 to $14. If you need the $4 that bad, you might want to consider a job instead of ripping people off.

It wasn't such a dirty little secret

Shill bidding has been going on since eBay day one. In the beginning, you had to light a stick of dynamite under eBay to get them to investigate - after all the higher price an item goes for the more they make in fees.

I really don't know how this can be stopped. Its' just too easy to have a cohort bump up the bidding. Enough prosecutions may stop some, but I fear the real crooks won't be deterred.
