Veterans Day is the day set aside to thank and honor ALL those who served honorably in the military - in wartime or peacetime. In fact, Veterans Day is largely intended to thank LIVING veterans for their service, to acknowledge that their contributions to our national security are appreciated, and to underscore the fact that all those who served - not only those who died - have sacrificed and done their duty.

God Bless all who serve our country!

It is Remembrance Day here in Australia. One minutes silence happens at 11Am (about now) to remember those who lost their lives in War.

    We shall not forget.

    Thanks Cazzie,

As a Marine Corps veteran, I appreciate people remembering what this day is all about. Today is the day that formally marked the end of WWI - "the war to end all wars." So it is a day of remembrance around the world.

To my Marine Corps brothers & sisters, happy 229th birthday! (November 10, 1775)

And to all those who have served and are serving today, God bless you, keep you safe, and Semper Fi!

But to anybody anywhere that serve espcailly those guys in iraq no matter if you are British, American or iraq - Thank you.

    cheers,

Thanks all! I am a 20 year vet myself.

Regardless of your political views this quote rings very true!

β€œIt has been said so truthfully that it is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us the freedom of press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the agitator, who has given us the freedom to protest. It is the soldier who salutes the flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives that protester the freedom to abuse and burn that flag.” – Senator Zell Miller
