Tomorrow? I think once after it lauches and people actually use it, a big boost for Google and Yahoo. MSN won't win this one.

No large blessing but at least a short second wind for a bunch of sites that got pummeled in the Florida Update/Inktomi Purge debacle.

NEXT YEAR They can't release it until they get all my pages

"Although the MSN Search technology won't be released in final form until next year,"

"The new search engine will initially be available only on a special test site."

They will need to rename it with some cutesy name like "google" or "yahoo". MSN.COM won't do.

First thing they need to do is make it work. All I get is this site is temporarily unavailable.

I wouldn't get too excited. What you see is preview, so still lots of changes plus it won't be till next year until you see any traffic from the new MSN search, it's still INK for now.

"the Yahoo! technology will continue to drive the main MSN Search page, search.msn.com, until the new Microsoft technology is released in final form."

Word is IIS is straining under the load and their technicians are hurriedly migrating the entire system to LAMP.

Maybe next Xmas, not this one. They're still going to be using INK throughout the holidays. Remember it's MS, you can never count on their launch dates being accurate. Have to tack on months or years. For those who want to see where they might or might not be next year.

Me too, and I have maintained them so far through a few changes they had with the tech preview site.

I am sick of googles BS so this is a welcome change.
