    Moving the ALE to an external .js
    In an attempt to make site changes easier I would like to move the ALE to an external .js file

    I have created a file ale.js with the following code

    Code:
    type="text/javascript" src="http://www.avantlink.com/ale/ale.php?ti=2163&ctc=whatever">
    and on my relevant pages I added this code where the ALE previously resided

    Code:
    <script type="text/javascript" src="ale.js"></script>

    It doesnt work. My best guess is the script needs formatting that Im clueless about.

    Any help would be appreciated

    Thanks
    Andrew

    You have included html code in the .js file, that won't work. I am not sure if you can create a .js file to use without having the full javascript in it rather than the source URL. I have done what you are trying to do, but only when the actual script is available to me. It is a great way to cut down guk on a page, but in the case of an off-site script referred via URL I'm not sure if that is possible. IF it is possible, an email to Avantlink's support team will get you the code, but maybe not before Monday. They are wizards.
