Datafeed Question - HTML in description
We are working hard on getting our site affiliate ready...and have gave thought to something that I wanted to check on! I saw a post about exclamations (I know no one likes them in a datafeed!)....but that made me think about our product pages in general.

We have tabs for our product information...description, shipping, videos etc.

And within our product description tab specifically we also use html to make the product description easier to read (basically 2 columns, left is a written description and the right is a list of the product features)....

Is this going to be a problem when made into a datafeed? I know we upload to Google Products and the Find with no problems, but from an affiliate standpoint is it going to be difficult to work with HTML in a description?

And if this is a stupid question I am sorry - I am filled with them! I just really want to try and get the program right at launch......

Affiliates do not want html in a feed. It will mess up our sites.

I will not put a merchant on my sites that has html in their feed.

Looks like BB beat me to it. I saw your question and was about to answer - and got distracted. Come back here and there is the right answer. That HTML code may make your page display the way you designed it but our pages are not laid out the same. Any HTNL code at all will likely mess up our sites.

Some top-level programmers will be able to strip out the errant code but many affiliates, me included, do not have the skill set to do so. In my case that would necessitate me skipping over a merchant using embedded code.

The best is to use normal narrative text with a minimum of "extraneous" punctuation!!!!!

Thanks everyone...I think we are good with the categories, we will just need to edit all of our product descriptions - we could probably strip it out of the datafeed before uploading, but that seems counterproductive!

Thanks so much for clearing this all up!
