    Template file with Web Service Datafeed
    Greetings,

    Does the Web Service Datafeed support a template file that has a PHP extensions rather then .html?

    I just tried renaming the template.html to template.php and nothing shows up anymore .. just

    [PAGE_NAVIGATION] [PAGE_CONTENT]
    [HIT_TRACKING]

    Thanks!

    It needs to be .html to work. It needs to be in the folder with all the files that get downloaded as a .zip. There are more detailed instructions on the AvantLink blog or you can contact support at AvantLink dot com, they get back to you right away.

    I was checking out the Shop.php files code and it has the following there:

    // Get the page template (whether .php or .html)
    if (is_file($strFilePath . "/template.php")) {
    include($strFilePath . "/template.php");
    }
    elseif (is_file($strFilePath . "/template.html")) {
    $strHTML = getTemplatedContent($strFilePath .
    It appears it may have a option for PHP, has anyone done work with a php template file and the web service datafeed stuff?

    I rather start up a conversation with the awesome ABW peoples instead of sending a support type of ticket!

    This isnt critical .. so no rush .. I'm just close to finding a way to get this embed with wordpress since they have a plugin now!

    Thanks!

    Hopefully Gary or Chad from AvantLink.com will see your question and provide some input on this.

    I'm certain somewhere on this forum or on the Avantlink blog there WAS information about changes to the datafeed client which DOES allow using it as php instead of html.

    I did find searching their blog (AvantLink Blog) a screencast about customizing the datafeed client here:

    AvantLink - Screencast: Web Service Datafeed Client - Customizing your HTML template

    I haven't yet looked at that screencast, but it seems to have some good stuff in it related to customizing the datafeed client templates to give them the look and feel of your site. I recall having seen it a couple of years ago, and I'm glad your question started me searching so that I found it again!

    After posting that reply above with links to the AvantLink.com blog, it occurred to me: Why is it so hard from the AvantLink.com interface to even FIND their blog??

    I realized a few moments ago as I was logged into the dashboard, there are no links in the navigation to the AvantLink blog. If you hit "Support" and go through some of the FAQ and "Useful Article" links, you'll find yourself on their blog.

    But wouldn't it be helpful to have a link to "Blog" in their dashboard navigation links?

    Or is that just me??

    Gary, I think this might be the article you're looking for:

    Using PHP includes with the datafeed web service client

    And good point about the accessibility of our blog from the internal Affiliate pages. Let me talk to the guys about that.

    That article is about using php includes within the html template so you can add a footer that you use on the rest of your site for example.
