What to do now to be ready later

I'm putting up a site in the next few months that will be a national directory for a service.
That service makes a nice part time income for many people. My site will offer basic listings for existing businesses and also a "start your own business" package for newbies.
I'm looking ahead and thinking that an Affiliate program may work well for this site since it's a big niche.
So, what do I do now to be ready for starting an AFF program later?
I want to avoid going back and redesigning the site later to better suit the aff program.

Define what it is that you want affiliates to sell, decide how to set commissions that are equitable for you and your affiliates, set up your landing pages that you want clickthroughs to land on making certain they are leak-free, determine what your EPC levels are prior to beginning your program, start looking for the appropriate network to handle your program, if you don't plan to personally manage your program then look for a compatible OPM. Many more steps, but I want to leave room for others.
