Last month my husband's car died, and after clearing out our savings account to pay for it, he got laid off.

Christmas looked very bleak...will all my earnings now going towards bills.

Then... just now the mail brought something special. One of my merchants had made a slight accounting error, and after checking their numbers I received a check for $1256.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus!

    I love honest merchants

Off to get a tree & hit the web to get some more presents

That's nice . . . too bad about the layoff, though -- there seem to have been a lot of grinches in the HR departments this year.

Congrats on the found money, westgroup! This is a lousy time of year to have problems, though. There are times I feel like they could just take the period of Thanksgiving through New Year's Day off the calendar, forget the Holidays, and I'd be perfectly happy!

I hope 2005 is a better year for your husband, job-wise and car-wise.

Woohoo! That's good news. Sorry to hear about the hard times, though. Keep plugging away!

westgroup, as long as hubby is home now, teach him to help you do AM. Who knows, maybe he'll get into it and you'll both be able to make a living at it before his unemployment benefits run out. Good luck!

We had a holiday surprise this week, too! Hubby was contacted by the benefits department where he works to tell him that he'd been qualified to participate in their retirement program this past year (even though he'd initially been told he wasn't) so the company would deposit $6,700 in the IRA of his choice!

    :thunk:

While we can't actually touch that money, we're sure glad to know it's there!

In the bad news department, two of our toilets broke this week and the lock on the back door is busted. Fortunately it's busted in the locked position. lol!
