    WP Themes recommendations
I have been using the free version of Flexibility3 on my WP sites but I notice it now has embedded affiliate links that can only be removed by acquiring the paid version.

I can understand why they have done this but I do not want to pay for a theme if a good free alternative is available.

Can anyone recommend a reliable free theme that they have used?

    Many thanks

Tried Thematic? It is very customizable.

For small, quick-build sites I have been using the new default theme because it is somewhat customizable. And being the "default" that comes with the WP installation -- it "should" be about as reliable as you can get.

You can see a sample over in Milan's backsplash thread.

For more involved sites I have been very happy with Thesis, which is highly customizable and has some pretty good built-in SEO. It, too, is reliable - but it is a pay-for theme.

Be careful with free wordpress themes. There are some out there that contain malicious hidden code.

    This plugin may help.

Thanks, I think I will try to use this one instead of Twentyten.

We recently integrated this theme into one of our drop ship customer's stores.

    Very customizable, as well...

that's what superCool uses too. pretty good but there are a LOT of options. it has built in SEO-friendly stuff too which makes it somewhat confusing when trying to work with SEO plugins. superCool likes it and will probably continue to use it.

Free themes are becoming slim to none though you may find the theme mentioned above beneficial.

I, too, once searched high and low for free themes, but the time it takes to find one, and then the malicious code embedded into them (also mentioned here), made the search fatiguing.

Like Bill, I'm using Thesis, and it's worth every penny, especially since you can use that one paid theme for as many blogs as you wish and customize it so that each blog looks different than others you own. This is a huge time saver for me so I can move on to other projects. Perhaps, in the future, Thesis or a similar option will be a time saver for you, too.

Thanks Bill, I have installed this theme but cannot work out how to insert the footer images or side panel images, I really would appreciate some help on this.

If you mean the banner ads I have there... You need to drag a "text" unit into the respective widgets. Then put the banner ad code (from SAS) into the text area. See if that helps.

When you create a variation on the TwentyTen (or any theme, known as the "parent" theme), you should create a "child" theme based on the "parent" theme so future updates don't destroy your blog.

Here are 12 free child themes for TwentyTen: 12 Free TwentyTen Child Themes For WordPress | WordPress News at WPMU.org

Creating your own child themes is pretty simple: Child Themes « WordPress Codex

I was going to recommend themesheep because they had some nice themes but you can now buy that domain at SEDO. But I downloaded the theme awhile back, so it's still good.

If you're using the Arras theme, which is pretty popular, it's not playing well with the new 3.2 Wordpress. Just jacked my site up trying to upgrade. Had to go in and delete the theme, in my hosting and then pick another.

Further to my original post I have just set up a new WP site and upgraded to the latest version and I see there is a "Twenty Eleven 1.2" theme available.

Does anyone have any experience with this latest theme.

    Thanks

Yes thematic framwork is the easily customizable theme comes with lot of good features.

But i personally recommend twenty ten or twenty eleven themes ,not because it comes as default package but for its minimal use of components, faster loading structure .
