Q4 is coming... How are you preparing?
It's still just Spring, but Q4 will be here before you know it. What are you doing to prepare?

Mike this is the second quarter, by your logic the fourth quarter is always coming. So I say the third quarter is coming, what are you doing to prepare for it, or do you expect to make no real money in the 3rd quarter and go for broke in the 4th quarter.

My theory is to have niches for each quarter so there will be little downtown in revenues. This year, I had a better first quarter than fourth quarter. My problem isn't the fourth quarter, but I have niches for the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarter. I need a 3rd quarter nitch so I'll be making money all year round.

I say, that no matter when your site(s) make most of their money you should be constantly working on them regardless.

Q2 is nearing an end, so it's only a bit over 4 months until the start of Q4.

Travel would probably be a good Q3 niche. That's one of the main things that's busier over the summer.

Travel would probably be a good Q3 niche.
That's what we see every year. Travel (for us) has a small uptick in mid-January and a much larger one right around "tax day." The best month is always July, with both June and August [just about] tying for second place. September and October in our niche markets are also good. The slow time is from late October until mid January. That "cycle" is why I began diversifying into "other areas" about six years ago. General merchandise obviously has the 4th Quarter for strength in sales. In checks, however, we find that Q1 is, by far, the strongest.

For our merchant sites we are making some changes that should position us and our affiliates to have a great Q4 and a fantastic Q1, 2012.

orange... For third quarter, I have decent luck with "back to school" promotions, as well as some "labor day" and "july 4"

Wow... just realized I have been a member here for 4 years and have never submitted a post before.

I subscribe to this theory as well...

I made site improvements in July/August of last year that (I think) paid off for the holiday season... if you're making structural changes ahead of Q4, it's always good to give yourself wiggle room in case something goes wrong.

Not thinking of Q4 specifically, but I've been in rebuild mode since Google's Panda update. Didn't lose too much traffic, but sales are down - anything that helps now will definitely help in Q4.
