Is affiliate marketing worth it?

I am just wondering if affiliate marketing could really produce consistent revenue stream and is it a viable business model? Since I guess affiliates are at the mercy of merchants, and I heard some merchants also do shady stuff such as not counting valid sales, etc.
So, is affiliate revenue sort of castle built on sand?

You're asking the right questions.
Yes, Affiliate Marketing can produce consistant revenue stream. Yes, it's a viable business model. Just don't believe what you read on the web, all the hype about making money.
You can make money with Affiliate Marketing if you know how to select your merchants, avoid crooked networks, stupid OPMs, please the greedy SEs and stay out of the way of shady affiliates.
I believe Affiliate Marketing has a bright future.
