I will be in NYC Monday evening to Wednesday noonish (crappy train schedules) if anyone in the area wants to meet for a late dinner on Monday or some folks want to meet somewhere in the Penn Station area for cocktails!!!! I have a lunch appointment on Tuesday, but Tuesday night for drinks somewhere would be cool too

I am going to be in town to photograph holiday lights before they get turned off and to get an "NYC fix". LOL, I have been gone for 2 years and I need to smell that uriny air again! And I have to visit a great pasta shop in Queens to get a bottle of garlic oil that I am almost out of.

So anyone with a high office (or apartment) with a view, PLEASE pm me so I can come visit and shoot out your windows!!!!

Its going to be COLD Monday and Tuesday. Bring a coat, and ever since freshkills has been closed down that Uriny smell has gone away. but then again if the wind is blowing right we get that nasty Jearsy Smell.

You might also want to check out the old coast guard base that just opened up while your down here. It's really pretty.

    http://www.nps.gov/gois/

It opened to the public during the summer.

Opps nevermind seems to only be open during the summer. When I went earlier in the year it was beautiful. All the buildings built in the 1800's it was like visiting James town in Va.

I have been cruising the web looking for photography tours (so I could maybe get access to buildings I may not otherwise) and haven't found any. Any New Yorkers know of buildings that I can go into and up to get some shots of the tops of some of the skyline? I can go up the Empire state building and get great shots of the top of the Chysler Building, but can I get up the Chrysler Building?

    Any tips appreciated!!!!

You might just have to go on one of those helicopter tours because of that. Security is tight and a lot of buildings are off limits.

I am not sure if the Chrysler building has a observation deck like the Empire State Building does.

Helipcopter tour is on the list of "things to do" IF:

    a. The weather is appropriate
    b. They promise me a window seat
    c. A commission check comes before I leave that would cover the cost

Otherwise it is on the list for a summer visit.

The one I linked you too is rather expensive the one I took a whie ago was only 250 for 45 minutes.

You might want to catch the circle line if you don't mind a 3 hour trip around manhattan island. Ohh also the tram to Rosevelt Island AKA welfare island.

I have a linkd for a different helicopter service associated with the waterway that is $101. Also, Circle Line seems to have fewer boats out this time of year, looks like no sunset/twilight cruise so probably will just do the Statue of Liberty cruise. I'll come back and do the 3 hour cruise in the summer, not enough time this trip. I get in too late Monday and leave too early Wednesday.

Should have booked a Jet Blue out instead of taking the darn train round trip.

So Mikey, Hotel Pennsylvannia bar at 7pm Monday night? LOL.

"meeting for drinks" is an acronym I don't drink either, especially at the prices of drinks in NYC!!!

But the bar is a good spot to meet, just because Bring a camera and walk with me I will pm you. It sounds like it might rain Monday and Tuesday now???? That would suck. I just need a couple hours of clear night sky..... LOL.
