    Is _target="blank" allowed?
    Hi All,

New to SAS and starting to set up a few links. I can't find anything on the SAS or here about this so I'm hoping someone here has already asked this or the SAS folks will educate me.

In case anyone's not familiar with the code, _target="blank" causes a link to open in a new window.

    Regards,

    Michele

I cannot believe that is something any network would ever restrict. I've been using it for every link for every network for ever.

Probably a typo but you wrote the code wrong, its target="_blank".

Wow, that was quick! Thank you.

Yikes, you're right. The underscore is in the wrong place.

Google Adsense prohibits opening the links this way.

As an affiliate I've been using that for a long time with no problems in six different networks.

As a merchant we certainly do allow it - with four programs in five networks.

Adsense uses javascript. Don't think you could just add this html code to javascript. But I do see adsense on some sites that open in a new window, so I'm not so sure about that. Its been quite awhile since I last set up a new adsense unit so I do not remember if that is an option to include in the setup. Do you have a link to that proscription?

I'm pretty sure I originally saw the prohibition in a forum conversation relating to the part in the TOS about modifying the code.

Apparently when G thinks it's in their best interest to do so, they have started doing this automatically - Can I open the ads in a new window? - AdSense Help but otherwise do not want their publishers doing it on their own.
