    It's the End ...
... of the space shuttle program today!

Atlantis will blast off today on its last mission (STS-135) to the International Space Station. She is scheduled to lift off at 11:26 a.m. ET from Kennedy Space Center. Watch the live video of the launch with me here on NASA TV

    Safe Voyage!

Sound and commentary are lousy! Nice visuals though, and glad to see things progressing relatively smoothly.

I was born the month the shuttle's started and spent my entire childhood enthralled by space and the astronauts. While its sad to see it end it's also an amazing achievement by our civilization that we should be proud of. And (just my opinion) I am just as excited to see where human exploration goes next. That excitement from childhood never truly goes away.

I think that the good thing about this is that other than the 25,000 odd jobs lost down the road, is that PRIVATE ENTERPRISE will absorbing the slack and taking us places we have never been.
