Is this page the right fit?
I manually approve all of our publisher applications, and I am pretty lenient. I usually only decline a page if it does not load, or it is blatantly inappropriate.

Lately though, I have had a lot of applications from web sites that have nothing to do with power tools (our main business). Over the last few days I have been inundated with requests from insurance sites.

I look for their other links and I just do not see where they are going to add a link for a hammer drill. I got one request from a guy that was selling bunnies for $10.

How does everyone else handle this?

    Thanks,

With these applications, are you only seeing 1 site or all their sites?

I usually group those kinds of affiliates and before approving or declining them, I shoot them an email asking them how they plan our promoting our product. I give them ample time to respond. If they do not reply within a week, I shoot another email. If after the second email they do not reply... then I decline them.

I believe that the key is to give everybody an equal opportunity to show how their pages would be a great fit with your product. If they do not communicate back with you, then there is really nothing much more that you can do. Always, always always communicate!

I always look at all their sites. I am having problems with getting responses to my emails. Why doesn't anyone have a phone number?

Agreed... phone numbers are the one missing link. I always leave my contact phone in my signature when I send emails, but I guess that's a one way street.

Because they more than likely do not want to be contacted.

They may very well be looking for auto approvals to do some quick TM bidding, redirects, and spam emails. Heck, they could even have 8-5 jobs and only work as affiliates after hours. So many potential reasons.

I would suggest pulling a whois on these websites. Are they private registration? Are they using a registrar known to spammers? Their email address a free email? Look for something that sticks out.

Just throwing out ideas why you've been inundated with affiliates who have insurance sites (to me screams warning)...

I think that's a biggie. Heck, we have seven phone lines...
