Mystery of the day

My own products hands down outsell any affiliate products no matter who I've tried so far.

Do I just work harder on my own products or is something elese in the mix? I guess no one knows how hard I work to sell my own products except me but I'll say to you that I try an work a level playing field.

    Any others with this experience?

My theory is that our preferences and passions come through in our writing, even when we're trying to be totally even-handed and balanced in our descriptions. I think visitors pick up on our "energy pattern" - to borrow a concept from Icicle. It's no coincidence that most of us have an easier time promoting merchants and selling products that we like. (And who better to like than yourself and your own products??)

Thats one way it could be done - some kind of like attracting like (I don't know a single occult technique that doesn't have a Newtonian counterpart). This would be like chromatography. Or need matching supply like magnetism.

I don't know how it works - I only see it does. Another possibility is your own products might be available from fewer sources.

    If you rule this out..

Theres an effect doctors have observed when they have a new drug out. It always seems more effective when it's new. We all know suggestion plays a large part in healing and I'd considered it case closed till people pointed out new links are more effecting in generating commissions.

Maybe. Maybe thieving merchants cut the reportng cable when they find out sales cost money. And maybe drug companies fiddle results to get better takeup.

Or maybe something statistically unlikely really is going on. Either way its worth further research.

    I

"Passion for the Product" is the #1 reason since your pre-sell/sales text reflects it in conversions.

Yes, the passion does show through! It took me ages to be able to sell certain things because I really think those items are as boring as bricks. Until I could write pages as if it was the most exciting thing around, I hardly sold any of the items in question. But when I got enough excitement into the ad copy to convince people that I didn't find it boring, the stuff started to sell!

When real excitement isn't there, it can take many rewrites to even come close. But for YOUR OWN products, it's going to come naturally--and Natural exitement beats the Faux Excitement any day. It converts better and also is much easier to write down!

Perhaps it's the exclusivity of the products? Are your products being sold all over the web - the way the affiliate products are?

    No actually I lied a little<IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon15.gif>

I do know why they sell better for me and it's because of what I put into it vs what amount of heart I put into an affiliate link. The lie wasn't to any of you it was really to myself and after reading WebMaster Mike's and leaders responce I was able to see that.

So the real answer to selling affiliate stuff is putting your heart into the products and using that (tony robins moment) passion (yikes) to sell that product.

Or writing as if your heart's in it...

You can still get a profitable CR even if you couldn't care less about the item. While the CR's not as good as when you love the product, it's not impossible to make sales with boring products.
