WSE,

I have had very good support and response from them (Brian), but sometimes I do feel like they are doing sharesale on the side

I think they have good potential to as an ad network but need to spend the money and time to recruit a higher echelon of affiliates!

Shareasale is good for a first program in the sense that you can tweak ads and rates and really see if it will work or not. I think the pay per lead with rules is a good way to keep traffic running. Some affiliates one other networks can burn you in a heartbeat with incentivized traffic and others will just knock you out of the water within a day with Asian traffic (the bad kind).

All in all I would give them a solid 4 (out of ten), but they could be a 7, with money and marketing.

WSE,

Right now I see a deluge of signups for many of my affiliate programs on shareasale, Clixgalore and ClickXchange ... many are changing out non performing merchants ... so now that you have their attention .... the key is how to keep them! and have them put your links up!

<UL TYPE=SQUARE><LI> Create a "real" welcome mail with real text (not tons and no sales crapola) and add contact info! -very important q's do come!
<LI> do NOT set up an auto responder!
<LI> email affiliates with "some" regularity (based on your availability ... but do it!
<LI> provide resources - for code or tips
<LI> sporadically personally mail them about their site and how to improve CTR
<LI> offer marketing tips
<LI> recruit them to abw
If you run into problems at shareasale they are there to help you in a heartbeat (literally).

I don't think the overall quality of affiliates is all that great. Lots of paid clickers and there was a scam from a huge family in Asia that you need to be carefull of. (watch out for a whole mess of sites that all look the same)

There are good affiliats but like anything else the bad ruin it for the bunch.

I have 164 affiliates at shareasale and I'd say maybe 30 of them are decent and 20 I have to keep a close eye on.

The rest aren't all that active.

How have you found shareasale so far?

Care to share your trials and tribulations of the past week or so whilst setting up?

In your opinion it been worthwhile to join shareasale?

Would you be up for keeping a merchant newbie diary and share it with us here

Edit out the secret bits.

It would be nice to get some insight into the proceedures, affiliate sign up rates and stuff so as to get an idea of the minimums needed for budgeting a merchant program of this type, and the time needed to administer such an undertaking.

Sure... I'll let yez know how I get on...

Going okay so far, getting new affiliates isn't too hard, but if I want real growth I'll need to get some promotion done... and think about how to make money rather than spend it

To start at the start... it's so easy to set up, I thought there would be more to it... just sign up, set your prices, add a 1 pixel image to your after sales page, add your affiliate links... request to go live (and pay), and you're off... affiliates should join at a steady rate per day, but not huge number for me anyway, between 5 and ten a day so far.

Gonna have to do some promotion to get more affiliates and my monthly budget spent... it's something to think about wether being with a "bigger" program, that charges more would be better and maybe save money in the long run.... something to discuss.

Thanks mr, sorry to hear about the crash, if there's one thing I hate it's re-doing something!!

Another thing guffy, if you keep in with people then promotion is easier

Cheers JLM

It's really useful to get some feedback for this stuff.
I don't want to start up something I can't see through to the end.

Tip #1 - remember to keep in with people.

If you'd like, I'd also be happy to mention you (or any other ABWers with ShareASale affiliate programs) to my 580 affiliates, in the next affiliate newsletter.

Just PM me..

ShareaSale probably isn't a very good match for some of my merchant clients since they don't concentrate on product sales. They feel paying for clicks without pre-sell text or merchant summaries generates untargeted traffic. Merchants like www.suspenders.com average over 3 years 1 sale per every 20 visitors ..no matter the source. They tried a pay per click deal and that traffic only generated one sale per every 175 clicks..go figure.

Really?
I'm switching my site to auto-approve in a day or two. It's too painful to approve everyone with Share a Sale's annoying javascript. I'll just have to keep a close watch on some of my affiliates.

Well that didn't last long, i turned auto approve back on... I think I might have put off the spammer that kept doing weird shit though... wow didn't realise there'd be as much maintenance for so few affiliates.

i dont know if this will help, maybe i can show you through the eyes of a visitor

i clicked your banner earlier with the intention of trading links, i arrived at the form page but i wanted to see what i was submitting my link too, after a while i found a link that said "directory", so i clicked through and found the links in catagories, oh no, swallowing the fact that i was going to have to spend more time navigating to the links i clicked "shopping", then i arrived at a page and the first link i saw was for ebay, it looked like a list of affilate links, they probably werent but by then i was bored so i gave up and closed the window, maybe another day

can you tell me..
how many affiliates do you have now?
how many productive affiliates do you have?
how many daily hits are shareasale sending you?

The site link from the shareasale merchant info page goes to aequorea.com.

Is this the same for your affiliate landing page links?

If so I'd try changing the landing page to: http://www.aequorea.com/linx-factory.../list/lf.shtml

Peeps may be getting confused with the difference between the 'Exchange Links', 'Submit Site' and 'Add Link' links.

Too many choices. Make them go direct to your 'Exchange Links' page.

Just my <IMG src=http://www.abestweb.com/ubb/icons/icon26.gif> for today.

Regards.

Are you getting many sign-ups to your newsletter from this or are you getting more link exchanges. So far do you think youre getting good results form your program?

Spacebandit,

Shareasale is a very good launching pad, much better than Clixgalore or Clickxchange (been there ... got my vaseline)

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><font size="-1">quote:</font><HR>how many affiliates do you have now?
how many productive affiliates do you have?
how many daily hits are shareasale sending you? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

I have about 500 affiliates with shareasale
My best affiliate got $14+ last month (based on $0.05)
I pay up to $0.50 per real lead.
Hit wise ... ABW gets about 5K a mo from affiliates ... realistically only 40 are top performers! (not shabby)
