Woohoo, made first sale of my product through 2checkout.com !!

Dunno if anyone using abw made the purchase, if yes ta very much!!

I'll have to look at my logs to try and figure if it came from an overture link, in which case it's paying for itself.

I don't think it was from a shareasale affiliate transaction unless that takes time to show up, anyone know about that? Are shareasale "sales" deducted in realtime?

Anyway... my gosh it's a good feeling, encourages me to do more products now

Thanks Guffy, i'm feeling pretty good... I never made a sale with affiliate progs, selling your own stuff seems heck of a lot easier... course that could be my last sale

Hey...

The buyer came from google.yahoo.com and it was a term that is extremly specific, gets clicked rarely, and costs little... I've got about 10 other terms that are slightly broader and cost a lot more... I'll have to keep a record of were the sale(s) are coming from then... need more products!!

Does anyone here use a management type software for this type of thing or would you just use excel, to record sales, who bought, search terms used, etc?

Heck, I'm away for a drink, YIPPEEEEEEEE!!!

Would you be interested in subcontracting other designers for more templates and splitting the profits 50/50 on those templates?
Or are you planning to stay 'in house'?

That thought had occured to me Guffy... something to think about, I'd want it automated, perhaps as part of the affiliate prog I could give the supplier a split of whatever the profit is after transaction fees... I could have a co-branded page linked to from the main page flogging designs by a particular person, but selling through my affiliate prog and 2checkout, and having control of what templates are used, etc... so I've got control...

Good idea pal... one person can only have so many ideas, I've realised after doing 3 templates

Will do... I have to say 2checkout has been pretty good considering the price... with that sale it has basically paid for itself... not bad.

I have to say... ABW has played a defenite part in getting me my first sale, over time and with site reviews, etc. you eventually come to realisations about what works...

( I know I know, just one sale... )

Thanks heyder... problem with 2checkout is that I don't get paid till I make 600 dollars... would need to build up a reserve before doing the aff prog properly I guess.

Eek, another sale... harder to tell from stats where they came from tho... does anyone have good idea for tracking a sales origin, even though it's gone through a third party checkout?

JLM...congrats!!! You will love 2checkout. I've been using them and it's great. I don't know about tracking where the sale came from. If you can process the orders seperately (don't know your situation). In ours, I have a special sign-up for ABW members with our special. I can see every order that comes from ABW members.

Thanks pal!! Yeah, I'm pleased with them so far, no problems getting started.

I've just got the standard checkout at the minute, but I was able to track the buyer with some detective work... no referring url unfortunately, I presume they just typed in the address?

I was thinking some sort of cookie job, which I know nout about... but I see what you mean... if I just had some sort of easy way to match the referring url to the sale and have it come up on screen in a list, that would be really cool... if it doesn't exist, worth inventing perhaps

The product is downloaded via a link in an email as well which may affect it.

Cookies would work for you...at least you could match up the time of the purchase to the time of the visitor, unless your getting 500 visitors a minute. If you are e-mailing a link directly to the program, could you make that link to a download page? If so, you may be able to track it a little better that way, particularly if you did have seperate sign-up pages. In our case, we don't run specials for any other groups except ABW members...it was nothing for us to create an extra sign-up. However, if I were doing the same on 20 different networks, then it would become much more complicated.

Alternatively you could try making mirror sites for each checkout system.
